Mental Health: Caring for the Whole Child
This session will be presented by mental health experts from our partner, Pacific Clinics. Information presented will introduce parents, guardians and caregivers to a variety of ways to identify mental health challenges and support their child’s overall mental well being. Attendees will take away a better understanding of caring for the whole child, available resources, and how seeking assistance when needed is positive for students and their overall well being.
Social Media: Keeping Our Kids Safe
This session will introduce adults to current trends on social media and a variety of ways that the youth are communicating using social media. In an effort to help keep our kids safe as they engage on social media applications it is important to know about these different platforms and how young people can be exposed to questionable content.
Planning for College: Options, Opportunities and Financial Aid
This session will provide audience members a chance to learn that applying to college can be an option for all who desire to attend. Information that is provided can help you begin the journey for college for your child. While open to all participants, the information presented will be tailored to families with students in grades 7-12.
Fentanyl & Drug Awareness for Parents & Guardians:
The fentanyl crisis requires all of us to be aware and knowledgeable. This session will be presented by the Los Angeles Department of Health and will give attendees information on a variety of drugs, including fentanyl, the availability of drugs, how they are used and what signs to look for if suspecting drug use.
Supporting Reading at Home
Reading opens doors of opportunity for all students and it is very important to support reading both in school and at home. This session will give parents, guardians and caregivers a chance to learn and try out a variety of reading strategies for multiple grade levels to use at home to further support students with reading fluency.
Math has Changed: How can I help my student?
Math homework causing stress in your home? Let us help you support your child with math homework and building a solid math foundation through the grade levels. This session will help audience members understand how math has “changed”, how you can help make math learning fun and relevant, and provide math support at home.
English Language Learners: Building Bilingualism
Is your child building their English learning skills? This session will help family members understand how to support their child who is an English language learner as they work towards mastery of the English Language while maintaining their first language to build bilingualism. Translation is available so all participants can learn together.
Special Education Partnering for Student Success
This session will help parents, guardians and caregivers of students with special needs, who have an Individual Education Plan (IEP), best partner with teachers and support staff to maximize student learning and achievement.
